I've been bad....

...about posting. But at least I've been continuing to train! I've been just busy enough to make posting (or writing in my training log) unlikely. I've haven't done much biking- mostly just casual rides around town. I have been running 2-3 times a week (sometimes with the hubby in tow) and I've been swimming 3-4 times a week. I'm really trying to focus on improving my total lack of swimming skills (the only way to go is up!). My workouts are not nearly as organized as Patsy's (warmup? sprints?). Mostly I just try to swim for a given period of time- 30mins, 45 mins, etc. I still have some grave reservations about whether or not I can even manage the swim part of this event, but I'll keep at it and see where I am in 2 weeks. Pray for me, sweetie. And resist the pop-tart therapy. You can do it!

  1. I resisted!!!! And, now that I'm in charge of dinner, we're eating lots of vegetables and delicious food (it's worth the work). Hubby was always happy to cook, dear man, but I prefer my own cooking!

Your training sounds great. I think the important thing is to keep at it. Honestly, I do all of this interval crap because I get bored doing laps. If you can swim for 30-45 minutes, you are probably swimming more than the race distance. I think you're going to do great. The open water swim will be a challenge but I think our key focus should be finishing. And there's no rule against doing the breast stroke or doggy paddle if you get tired or winded. I've also been slacking on the bike. Actually, I've kind of lost my edge in the past couple weeks (we've had a lot of stuff going on at home) but I'm going to try to make these last two weeks count. I need to get my new tires and soon!

  2. Is there a rule against bringing your own kayak and just paddling instead? That may be a better strategy for me...

Get those tires, woman! You want to ride on them a few times so you're used to them.
