Slacking . . .
Well, I did run on Saturday (5.5 miles, 45 minutes, lots of hills, I kicked ass) but then I slacked over my long weekend. My mother was in town visiting and the weather was crappy so I just spent time visiting and eating. Great long weekend but not as far as my training goes. I was supposed to go swimming today but I just don't feel like it. I'm feeling kind of blue and though I know that exercise would make me feel better in so many ways, I just can't bring myself to trek over to the pool. Tomorrow my running partner will be around so we'll go running. That will get me back on track, har har.

Intervals!
Oh my God. I've just returned from my first interval work-out in months. It was a pretty modest one too. 1 mile warm up, 4 x 400yds (with 200yd rest in between), 1.25 mile cool down (in the last lap, I did two 50yd sprints just for fun). That, together with the little distance I have to run to get to the track made a 3.5 mile work out. I'm devastated. Wow. I can't believe I used to do this everyday in highschool track. And, actually, our work-outs were much longer! Wow. Well, it's a start. I need to dig up my stopwatch so I can have an idea of my speed.
I've decided to do a 30K trail run in mid August. It sounds really fun. I wanted to do a trail marathon but that race falls on the baby's birthday, so 30k it is! I'm so happy to be back in training!

Tri-Training
O.K. Here's my workout log since I started officially training for the tri (as well as I can remember, anyway).
3/14/10 - 3.5 mile run (brisk)
3/15/10 - Rest day
3/16/10 - Rest day
3/17/10 - 30 minute swim (3 sets of 400 - briskish)
3/18/10 - rest day
3/19/10 - 5K run on race course with my running partner
3/20/10 - 45 minute bike ride with hills, 1 mile run afterwards (5K pace)
3/21/10 - 5.4 mile run (brisk pace), .5 mile cool down
3/22/10 - 25 minute work out (3 flights of stairs 10x, lunges, calisthenics). I was supposed to swim but I forgot half of my bathing suit.
Not bad so far. I'm really excited to be training again. And, the weather is warm enough now (knock on wood) that I'll be able to start using the jogging stroller again!

Day ?
I haven't been exactly diligent in keeping up with this blog. I will say that I've been keeping basically good habits during this past month. I have eaten some junk-food but I'm mostly practicing moderation. I had one candy pig-out but not long after the binge started, I felt acutely nauseous and I had to stop. That was annoying and a little scary - and a good hint that I shouldn't engage in junk-food junkyism. So, I'm trying and mostly succeeding in eating healthy and in reasonable quantities.
I've continued my evening cleaning routine which is great. My mother in law is visiting now and I barely had to do anything outside of my normal routine (because the house is clean on a regular basis now!). Nice. And, it keeps me out of the refrigerator (except when I'm cleaning it).
I'm exercising more because my running partner and I have signed up to do a triathlon in about a month. So, I've gone from running/working out once/week to 5 times per week. Awesome. I feel great. I'm really excited to be competing again. This may turn into a post-partum getting-back-on-the-horse extreme-sport training blog.
